Awarded after you kill an opponent by meleeing them in Multiplayer.

The Bone Cracker (Beat Down in Halo 3 and Halo: Reach) Medal is awarded for hitting and killing an opponent with a melee attack that isn't an actual assassination (melee attack from behind). It is available in all Multiplayer gametypes and has a Bungie difficulty rating of 3 out of 10.

It is represented by an inverted silver star with a dark green fist. After you kill an opponent with a melee attack, a message appears on your screen that says: "You beat down (player's name)". It is also awarded if a Covenant Energy Sword or Gravity Hammer is used to kill an opponent from the front. In Halo: Reach, after killing an opponent with a melee attack, the message "You pummeled (player's name)" will appear.

Tips

  • An easy way for two players working together to get the medal at the same time is to do the Double Beatdown trick.

Trivia

  • The "Green Fist" could be a reference to the Incredible Hulk, the Hulk uses his fists in battles and they happen to both be green. It may also depict a MJOLNIR Armor gauntlet.
  • This is probably one of the easiest medals to acquire in any gametype or playlist.
  • The best playlist to get Bone Cracker medals is in Grifball because every kill you get is a beat down. Kills can go up to 50+ kills = 50+ beat downs.
