Digging up the Past is an achievement in Halo 4 and Halo: The Master Chief Collection. It is awarded when the player finds and accesses John-117's record during the level Dawn. In Halo 4, the achievement is worth 20 Gamerscore and is represented by the Office of Naval Intelligence emblem.[1] In Halo: The Master Chief Collection, it is worth 5 Gamerscore and is represented on the Steam icon by a Mark V[B] helmet and an image of the map Skyline in the Xbox art.
Method[edit]
The location of the terminal is located right under the cryo bay. In the beginning of the level, instead of heading straight into the room where there's a hologram of the frigate, turn left and look for a staircase that leads to the lower floor. At the far end of the room, there is the terminal that contains John-117's service record.
Trivia[edit]
The service record incorrectly labels the UNSC Pillar of Autumn as a frigate. In actuality, it was a Halcyon-class cruiser.
