The M95 Lance Guided Missile Weapon System[1] is a surface-to-air missile battery used by the UNSC.
Design details
Each battery can hold up to six missiles. The battery uses a universal weapons emplacement base similar to the one used by the M71 Anti-Aircraft Gun. The M95 GMWS is a smaller counterpart to the M97 Lance, a missile battery designed for both atmospheric and space engagements.[1]
Operational history
In August 2552, during the Siege of New Alexandria, two M95 Lance missile batteries were used by SPARTAN-B312 to cripple a Covenant SDV-class heavy corvette holding station over the city, thus allowing three civilian transports to escape the city. [2]
Trivia
This weapon emplacement was originally referred to as the "M950 Lance" on Halo Waypoint.[3]
