Buwan is the primary natural satellite orbiting the planet Balaho, the homeworld of the Unggoy. Located in the Tala system, Buwan orbits Balaho alongside the planet's secondary moon Padpad.[1][2]
The moon was the site of a Covenant hydro-processing center that harnessed Buwan's waters to refuel and power capital ships. The facility was abandoned following the splintering of the Covenant, though it continues to operate via automated subsystems.[2] Office of Naval Intelligence scans indicate that the moon was completely abandoned after the Human-Covenant War, though ONI continues to monitor the Tala system.[3]
The Shadow Master of Buwan is a skilled Unggoy warrior who served Yapyap the Destroyer under the Banished, training his disciples in ancient Balahoan martial arts.[4]
Behind the scenes
Buwan is the Tagalog word for "moon". Penance, the remake of Damnation for Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, is set in a hydro-processing center on Buwan.[2]
