Revision as of 19:17, October 10, 2006

This is just an example page of what we should put in Wikipedia and other Wikis once we've reached 1000 articles.

In Our Defense

We need to work out our arguement to defend against deletion. Also, when we do post we need to have some reasons prepared for the talk page like the following:

  • Delete-- Per Guy's statement "wikipedia is not a listing for fan wikis". -- SomeGuy 14:07, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
One could also say that Wikipedia is not a listing of university professors, musical groups, city streets, etc., etc.: but the Wikipedia community has developed formal and informal rules which determine which profs, bands, streets, and fan wikis get Wikipedia articles. So, articles on Halopedia, Memory Alpha, and Comixpedia are kept, while others are deleted. — SomeGuy 14:07, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Keep Uh...don't think so. Halopedia has been around a while, and I don't consider it spam. -- SomeGuy 14:07, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Strong Keep Halopedia is a very large database of Halo articles frequented by a great deal of people. It has a very impressive alexa rating. -- SomeGuy 14:07, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Strong keep. Not spam, and one of Wikia's biggest wikis.-- SomeGuy 14:07, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Response

(I'm putting this under a header to seperate it from the list.) It should be noted that Wikipedia does not care about number of votes, so much as arguements. Getting a forum to come and post a bunch of "Keep Halopedia is awesome!" will not help. --Dragonclaws 17:55, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Yeah I understand, it was more my intent that we should create good arguements for a Keep rather than more Keep votes. -- Esemono 00:32, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
I'm not speaking to anyone specifically, I'm just putting the message here so it doesn't happen. --Dragonclaws 03:20, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Article

The article seems too much like an ad to the Wikipedia editor part of me. Compare it to the Memory Alpha article. Well written and sourced is what we should aim for. It shouldn't have our directory, and I don't think the Summary header is used there. Is that infobox standard? --Dragonclaws 17:51, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

This is why I created it, get input make it better! Make any changes you think are necessary. I only added the summary so the TOC wouldn't mess up the page and yes the Infobox is a Wikipedia template. -- Esemono 00:32, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
I think it's doing pretty well. FYI, you can add __TOC__ to a certain place to make the table of contents appear there. --Dragonclaws 06:47, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

The Case

Below is what will be put in the talk page of the Wikipedia Halopedia article:

I know Halopedia has been aFD in the past but as you can see the old Halopedia article, that was deleted, was basically a stub. Now with the all events that have taken place the new Halopedia is a stronger, more vibrant and Notable community. With the newer stronger community a better Halopedia article has been created for Wikipedia.

  • Halopedia is the biggest information database for the Halo Universe just like Wookieepedia is the biggest information database for Star Wars.
  • This reference is needed on Halopedia so people know where to put Halo articles that aren't notable enough to stand on their own in Wikipedia. Much in the same way that Memory Alpha is a great place to move obsure Star Trek articles that get aFD on Wikipedia.
  • With the upcoming Halopedia projects Halopedia will soon overtake Comixpedia in the amount of articles it has. The new Halo projects are such titles as the:

For all these reasons Halopedia has grown enough and is big enough to have its own Wikipedia article.

Articles

If you're all interested in increasing the number of articles, there are at least a hundred more people articles that need to be created in the Credits. I've been doing a lot of work on these, and every person that worked on Halo deserves an article. -ED 00:17, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
