The XM510 Multishot Grenade Launcher is a semi-automatic grenade launcher used by the United Nations Space Command armed forces.[1]
Overview[edit]
Design details[edit]
The XM510 is a shoulder-fired, semi-automatic grenade launcher. The weapon features a revolving swing out cylinder, from which grenades can be loaded. The weapon is additionally equipped with a telescopic sight and a foregrip.[2]
Operational history[edit]
The XM510 was employed by UNSC Marine Corps forces during the early years of the Human-Covenant War. In 2531, Marine forces attached to UNSC Spirit of Fire deployed with the weapon in the Harvest campaign, Battle for Arcadia and Battle of Trove.[2] Marines armed with the XM510 were regularly employed as passengers in Warthogs.[1]
Gameplay[edit]
Halo Wars[edit]
The XM510 appears in Halo Wars, as the second upgrade available for the Warthog. When unlocked, the Grenadier upgrade adds a single Marine armed with an XM510 to the vehicle's passenger seat, boosting offensive power slightly.
Production notes[edit]
The XM510's design is based directly off of the South African-built Milkor MGL Mk.1 and the later M32 MGL variant used by the United States Marine Corps. Concept art for the M319 grenade launcher produced by Isaac Hannaford for Halo: Reach initially explored a similar design of multiple grenade launcher, though the design was eventually scaled back to the final game's break-action design.
The Official Strategy Guide for Halo Wars mistakenly refers to the "XM511 Heavy Grenade Launcher" as the "XM510" in a caption describing the weapon mounted on the M9 Wolverine.[3]
