The Mikpramu-pattern Warrior Transport[1] (UNSC Type classification: Type-57 Dropship Troop Carrier, T-57 DTC)[3] is a dropship in the Phantom line of aircraft employed by the Sangheili.[5][2]

Overview

Design details

The Mikpramu design pattern of Phantom is based on ancient Sangheili designs,[1] sporting a more traditional appearance inspired by aquatic ray-like predators found on Sangheili colonies. They were seldom used during the Covenant due to the design being considered inelegant by San'Shyuum legislators, with the Ru'swum-pattern and later Kez'katu-patterns manufactured by the Assembly Forges instead preferred.[3] With the Covenant's collapse in 2552 and the emergence of a Sangheili civil war, Sangheili warlords instead turned to independent manufacturers such as Achoem Weapons, Kolaar Manufactorum, and Malurok Armory to begin supplying replacment Phantoms instead. To help maintain supply, these manufacturers looked back to older design patterns of Phantom and retrofitted them with more modern weapon and propulsion systems.[1] As such, the Mikpramu is easy to manufacture and maintain without access to high-tier fabrication facilities, at the sacrifice of exoatmospheric performance.[3]

Operational history

While the Type-57 Phantom saw service as early as the Battle of Earth,[5] it was not catalogued by the UNSC until 2557. The Type-57 DTC did not see widespread service until the aftermath of the end of the Human-Covenant War due to dwindling numbers of Type-44 and Ru'swum-pattern Phantoms.[3] Various factions—most notably Jul 'Mdama's Covenant and the Swords of Sanghelios—called upon allied colonies and renovated long-abandoned manufacturing facilities to produce the dropship, along with other war matériel.[3] The Type-57 was used in multiple battles, including the Battle of Kamchatka and various engagements in the Blooding Years.[2] By October 2558, T-57 Phantoms were often used in Warzone simulations aboard the UNSC Infinity.[4]
