"Ancient Sangheili script carved on the plasma generator casing is a curse aimed at any wielder without bloodstained hands. Improved Storm Rifle with improved heat dissipation and better accuracy."
— In-game description[4]

Fury is a custom-crafted Kelos'vaarda-pattern storm rifle featured in Halo 5: Guardians as an Uncommon REQ variant of the Storm Rifle. It retains the Storm Rifle's model albeit with a change of color to yellow with white stripes and red Covenant glyphs decorating the weapon.[5]

Overview[edit]

Fury is a T-55 DER/A with improved heat dissipation and better accuracy. Fury's creator was a Sangheili artisan of sublime genius and skill, though he eventually shunned his family's traditional ties with Lodam Armory to perfect the art of the kill and the craftsmanship of orbital assaults. In time, the artisan's behavior became impossible to restrain or control, and his eyes became clouded in madness. His name, his titles, and the story of his death was stricken from Covenant records, and only his personal sidearm returned to his home in Kaepra, on Sanghelios, wrapped in linen and sealed with sigils known only to the highest ranking Zealots.[6]

Clad in an immutable shell and seething with power that hinted at heretical modifications, Fury quickly passed into the hands of foolhardy Kaepra warriors who sought to use its power to advance their interests.[6] The ancient Sangheili script carved on the weapon's plasma generator casing is a curse that specifically targets any wielder without a history of killings.[4]

In late 2558, Spartan-IVs trained with the weapon in the UNSC Infinity's War Games simulations.[5]

Gameplay[edit]

Halo 5: Guardians[edit]

Fury is a Level 2 Uncommon REQ worth 75 REQ Points when sold. It operates exactly identically to a normal Storm Rifle except with upgraded accuracy, longer firing period before overheating (2.73 s instead of 1.83 s), and improved heat dissipation (cools down from full overheat in 1.95 seconds). These improvements make the Fury more effective at medium range, although like with the other Storm Rifles, it is still ineffective beyond medium range, where the Brute Plasma Rifle is a better choice.[3][5]

Changes from the Type-55 Directed Energy Rifle/Advanced[edit]

  • Improved heat dissipation. Cools down from a full overheat in 1.95 seconds, down 0.5 seconds from the normal weapon.
  • Can fire for 0.9 seconds longer before overheating.
  • Improved accuracy.
