The M9407 Single Occupant Independent Entry Vehicle is a post-war design of drop pod in the service of the United Nations Space Command.[2][3][4]

Overview

Design details

In the years following the human-Covenant war, the UNSC partnered with experienced military contractors to make a number of improvements to the drop pod platform.[1] As such, the M9407 SOIEV is a modern drop pod design that incorporates a number of improvements over its M8823 and M8900 forebears. These include more reliable in-flight communications, limited inertial compensation, compatability with gravitic-assist launch tubes and significantly improved structural integrity. The M9407 also features a more configurable internal harness, with hookups and system interlinks compatible with the latest ODST armor and MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor variants.[2]

The M9047 also features more powerful manoeuvre thrusters, a new air brake design, significantly improved structural integrity with the incorporation of new metal matrix composites, and thermal superconducting elements incorporated into the composite heatshield.[1]

Usage

329 such drop pods are carried by the UNSC Infinity, and are deployed from R1295 Launching Systems.[5][3]

Gameplay

The M9407 appears in the Warzone gamemode in Halo 5: Guardians, used to deploy players onto the battlefield in the opening cutscene of a match. In-game, they act as static props though some house REQ terminals for players to call in weapons. The drop pods can also be spawned in Forge, alongside their associated airbrakes, as static props.
