A child prodigy, Olympia Vale was born on the Inner Colony of Luyten to a mother in the UNSC Navy. Vale was a child prodigy with a natural skill in languages, even teaching herself the Sangheili language simply by listening to recordings. In the post-war era, Vale became a diplomat to the Sangheili and an expert on their culture. Following a joint operation to Installation 00 in which the Halo Array was once again prevented from firing, ONI recruited her into the SPARTAN-IV program. By late 2558, she was assigned to Fireteam Osiris, led by Spartan Jameson Locke.
