The most common ONI symbol, with the arrowhead design.

The ONI symbol is the primary logo used to identify the organization.

Description

Arrow design

The agency's insignia has many layers of meaning: superficially it is a stylized surveillance satellite, but it also represents a pyramid of knowledge with an all-seeing eye and an arrowhead directed to the heavens.[1] Above the center circle reads "UNSC" and at the bottom, in between the edges of the outer circle reads "Office of Naval Intelligence".

The colors of the logo can be inverted on dark surfaces.[2]

UNSC derived

The UNSC derived variant.

Another symbol, based on the UNSC's is also occasionally used. Featuring the bird with the globe, the main differences include the globe containing the "all-seeing eye" with triangles and stars surrounding it and the ribbon at the bottom containing the text "Office of Naval Intelligence" in it.[3]

A city is a type of settlement that sapient species create.

Types

Human

Human cities often have transit systems featuring Maglev trains.[7][8][9] Quite a few cities also prominently hosted Space elevators.[10][11][8]

Human cities are sometimes arcologies. Several examples of this include the Castra Arcology[12] and the Haven arcology.[13][14]

Species of the Covenant

  • Covenant - Designed as the Covenant's capital, High Charity featured it's own city.[15]

In 1415, the Battle of Agincourt took place.[20] In 1759, the Battle of Minden took place. This battle became the namesake for a UNSC starship.[21]

In the 18th-century, the conical bullet was developed[22] and the piezoelectric effect was discovered.[23]

Over the course of the 18th and 19th-centuries, the colonies of Britain diverged socially and economically resulting in a schism. In one case, a war.[24]

World War II started in 1939.[25] John Forge's family had members fight in World War II.[26] During the war, the British cracked a German encryption scheme.[27] The war came to a close with the first usage of human Nuclear weapons at Nagasaki and Hirshima.[28] Chief Petty Officer McRobb compared the 26th-century Fall of Reach to the attack on Pearl Harbor.[29]

UN era

Early human steps on Luna.[30]

In 1945, the United Nations was founded. 24 years later, human beings would take their first steps on Luna.[28] The United Nations first established the Unified Earth Government in 2075.[31] Luna, Mars, the Jovian Moons and several asteroids would first be settled by humans in 2080.[32] 2090 and 2103 also saw the ends of large scale conflicts.[33] In the 2100s, British Houses of Parliament were destroyed in a domestic terrorist act.[34]

The United Kingdom was a former nation on Earth.[35] It is colloquially referred to as Britain.[36]

History

In the 18th-century and 19th-centuries, British colonies began to diverge from Britain itself, in one case leading to war.[37] During World War II, the British managed to crack a German code.[27]

In the 22nd-century, the Houses of Parliament were destroyed in an act of domestic terrorism.[35]

Status as of 26th-century

By the 26th-century, the island of Iona, formerly of Scotland were part of the North Atlantic Protectorate.[35] Following the Human-Covenant War, a collection of photographs by Jake Courage toured Britain.[36]
