According to the glossary in the Halo 4 Essential Visual Guide, the UEG was formed in 2075. This contradicts information from the original Xbox.com Halo timeline (long offline now) which stated in the 2170 entry that "A unified Earth government was formed in the wake of these conflicts." (it wasn't a proper noun back then), with the idea that the Interplanetary War acted as the catalyst for the creation of the UEG. I guess the question is whether the 2075 date in the visual guide is an intentional retcon or perhaps a typo (should it instead be 2175?). --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 23:31, 8 October 2013 (EDT)

:Given the timeline, I would say it's probably a typo, and was meant to be 2175 - five years after the Interplanetary War, which seems a reasonable amount of time for the reformation of a solar system's government. -- Qura 'Morhek The Autocrat of Morheka 02:25, 9 October 2013 (EDT)

What do you think the UEG is based off of, anyway? I think it's a cross between the UN and the United States. - EpicZealot1239

:It seems a hybrid of the two. It has a President, but also a Security Council. my own guess is that it's a slightly modified evolution of the current UN model, replacing Secretary General with President, and making it an elected office. -- Qura 'Morhek The Autocrat of Morheka 21:25, 4 October 2014 (EDT)

I checked through the "official" Halo timeline that was released before the first game, and found mention of a unified Earth government. Should we change the name appropriately? Specops306, Kora 'Morhek 04:11, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Formation?

Given the timeline, I would say it's probably a typo, and was meant to be 2175 - five years after the Interplanetary War, which seems a reasonable amount of time for the reformation of a solar system's government. -- Qura 'Morhek The Autocrat of Morheka 02:25, 9 October 2013 (EDT)
I can't do this kind of thing often, as they are very busy people, but I was able to bring this to Jeremy Patenaude's attention at 343 Industries. Since it involved the newly published Visual Guide, I felt the clarification warranted bugging him about it. He gave me permission to copy this from our correspondence on the subject and I hope this will satisfy the query above:

2075 - The UEG is formed as an assembly of political leaders and brilliant minds, commissioned by the UN, and tasked with attempting to avert the crises of the next century by solving governmental unification issues of colonizing non-Earth territories.
2170 - The UEG becomes a full-fledged governing entity, controlling all human-occupied territories, particularly including those extrinsic to Earth.
I think this will help Halopedia sort out the timeline regarding the UEG. -ScaleMaster117 (talk) 17:20, 11 October 2013 (EDT)
I love when storytellers do this - reconciling possible typos into interesting story ideas. It shows a degree of flexibility where the lore is concerned. Thank you for the clarification! -- Qura 'Morhek The Autocrat of Morheka 18:47, 13 October 2013 (EDT)

What government is it based off if?

What do you think the UEG is based off of, anyway? I think it's a cross between the UN and the United States. - EpicZealot1239

It seems a hybrid of the two. It has a President, but also a Security Council. my own guess is that it's a slightly modified evolution of the current UN model, replacing Secretary General with President, and making it an elected office. -- Qura 'Morhek The Autocrat of Morheka 21:25, 4 October 2014 (EDT)

Senate

Is it fair to say the UEG's legislative branch is a senate, as seen on the newest episode of Hunt the Truth? - NightHammer (talk) 22:12, 10 May 2015 (EDT)

I'd say so yeah.Sith-venator Wavingstrider Fett helmet.jpg (Commlink) 22:21, 10 May 2015 (EDT)
Ok, I'll make a page. Though I'll leave the article title ambiguous since we don't know if it is called the "UEG Senate" or the "Senate of the UEG", or something else entirely. Given the UEG's similarities with the US of A's governmental system, it's probably the first one. - NightHammer (talk) 23:10, 10 May 2015 (EDT)

Secretary Of Defense

Does this seems to be worth mentioning under the part about military, along with the "local freedom fighter brigade"?Enough Redshirts (talk) 02:29, March 17, 2019 (EDT)
