- November: Dr. Jonas Volman, the author of The Castaway Theory, goes missing.
Real world events
- April 25: The Bonus Map Pack and Killtacular Pack for Halo 2 are released.
- May 12: The Xbox 360 console is officially announced.
- July 5: The Maptacular Pack and Multiplayer Map Pack for Halo 2 are released.
- August: Cody Miller sets the record for Halo 2 campaign completion with a time of 3 hours, 17 minutes and 50 seconds without a single in-game death.
