A squad is a military unit used by the UNSC Army and UNSC Marine Corps in the organisation of its combat personnel.

Composition[edit]

Squads typically are composed of twelve personnel,[1] though this is an ideal and rarely matched in the field, leading to squad sizes ranging from eight to thirteen members.[2][3] Squads can be led by a corporal, lance corporal[1] or sergeant.[4] Squads are typically divided into two or more fireteams, each consisting of 4-5 soldiers led by a Corporal or Lance Corporal. Likewise, three squads form a platoon, though exact composition depends on company structure. Some company organisations mix their heavy weapons personnel into each platoon, so that each platoon has one heavy weapons squad and two riflemen squads.[1] Squads within a platoon are numbered i.e. First Squad, Second Squad, and so forth.

UNSC Special Forces sometimes utilise much lower personnel counts in squads, as low as four - making them effectively equivalent to a fireteam.[5] such as the ODST and Naval Special Warfare units.

Known squads[edit]

See Category:UNSC Marine Corps squads for a list of known squads.
