The body cameras were a piece of viral marketing conducted as part of the second season of Hunt the Truth, as part of the wider marketing for the then-upcoming Halo 5: Guardians. The bodycam clips were all uploaded to the Hunt the Truth Tumblr blog around the release of The Story of FERO and Episode 00: The Only Deliverable on September 22, 2015,[1] and consist of short live-action clips from UNSC Marines depicting the aftermath of a Guardian awakening on Meridian. The majority of the clips only depict the city and some civilian panic, though the final one (uploaded between Episode 02: From Fire to Blood and Episode 03: Safe House) depicts John-117 running across the frame.
The clips tie in with the larger Halo 5: Guardians marketing push, particularly the other live-action trailers A Hero Falls and The Hunt Begins. Both trailers depict more of Blue Team and Fireteam Osiris' action on Meridian.
