The plasma mine is a type of landmine employed by the Banished.[1]
Overview[edit]
Plasma mines are deployed from orbit to the ground. When deployed, the plasma mine is cloaked, and detonates when enemies are detected nearby.[1] The plasma mine has a number of derivatives that employ the same casing, including the infused mine,[2] the scorch mine,[3] the scout mine,[4] the stasis mine,[5] and the Ultra mine.[6]
Operational history[edit]
During the Second Ark Conflict, the Banished deployed cloaked plasma mines on the surface of Installation 00 near the Enduring Conviction's gravity lift. The plasma mines failed to deter UNSC forces, as marine snipers were able to detect the mines using their equipment.[7]

In Halo Wars 2, Plasma Mines is a leader power exclusive to Atriox. When activated, three mines are deployed to the targeted location in a linear pattern; rotating the camera allows the player to rotate the pattern’s orientation. A second leader power, Counter Measures, automatically deploys plasma mines around newly-captured Power Nodes. Each mine is cloaked shortly after being deployed, and will detonate when enemy ground units enter its proximity. The explosion damages nearby enemy units, then creates a pool of boiling plasma in the area (lasting approximately 40 seconds); enemy ground units in the pool continue take damage over time. In the campaign level Under The Dark, the plasma mines do not leave behind a pool of plasma.
In Blitz, Plasma Mines are replaced by Scorch Mines, which leaves behind a pool of burning plasma for a much shorter duration.
