The MQ-96 Support Drone is an unmanned support drone operated by the United Nations Space Command.[1][2]
Overview[edit]
Design details[edit]
The MQ-96 is a small support UAV designed to operate in support of infantry units on the ground. This is achieved by way of the drone's numerous sensor and camera feeds, alongside a high-energy laser weapon designed by Isabel,[3] which allow the drone to provide both cover and reconnaissance for its operator. The MQ-96 boasts impressive compatibility with a wide range of complementary systems and equipment: these include TACPADs such as the MC5 Individual Data/Net Terminal with hardened UNSC battle network uplink, which allows for a user to track and operate their drone. They may also be used with Target designators such as the H-165 FOM, or the PZY-955SSA WILLOW remote sensor package, which can be used to identify targets for the drone.[1]
Operational history[edit]
MQ-96 drones are widely used by the operational forces of UNSC Spirit of Fire. They were used by Sergeant John Forge in conjunction with his personal Warthog,[4] with another used by Corporal Chloe Turpin of the Orbital Drop Shock Trooper team Sunray 1-1 to support the team.[1] They are commonly paired alongside M121 Jackrabbits, in particular their "Veteran" loadouts, for support and reconnaissance even when removed from the wider UNSC support network.[2]
