Drop pods used by the Banished are manufactured by the Kordulaan War-Forge and developed by the Gydrozka workshop. The drop pod features four stabilizing thrusters at its fore and a gravitic braking chute at its rear to decelerate. The pod's frame is heavily armored and dense in the hopes of damaging potential opposition. After landing, the pod releases its hatch with an explosive blast, intended to inflict damage on nearby enemies.[1]
Operational history[edit]
During the Battle of Netherop (2559), the Banished used several hundred drop pods towards the end of the conflict to deploy a small army of warriors onto the plains of Netherop. Due to the ongoing engagement in space, Atriox sacrificed his drekar Hammer of Fate to provide cover for the drop pod insertion. The pods were deployed from a small fleet of karves operating in the system, and deployed with the troops on the ground initially believing them to simply be a debris shower from the destruction in orbit. Once the drop pods landed on the ground, the massive numbers of troops were used by Atriox to pressure Thel 'Vadam and Olympia Vale into handing him control of the Precursor superweapon the Divine Hand. Once the weapon was handed over, Atriox and his forces left - leaving the drop pods abandoned on the ground and requiring ten Liches to embark all of the soldiers.[2]
