The Mokol'ta-pattern heavy Spirit[2], nicknamed by Kelly-087 as the "Super Spirit", is a Covenant aircraft used for the transportation of vehicles and infantry.[1]
Overview[edit]
Design details[edit]
The Mokol'ta-pattern is heavy variant of Spirit family of dropships, employed by the Covenant.[2] The heavy Spirit is noted as having a broad similarity to the visual appearance of the Barukaza Workshop siege-hauler employed by the Banished.[2] The vehicle was given the nickname "Super Spirit" by Kelly-087 upon observing it on Netherop, with the Spartan intending to leave official classification to ONI Section Three. The vehicle bears a similar profile to the Spirit's "U"-shaped appearance, though with the major difference of a third troop-carrying prong in the middle, giving the vehicle the appearance of a trident. The outermost troop bays were observed by Kelly-087 to possibly be shorter than those of the regular Spirit dropships, though this was uncertain. The vehicle's profile is elongated, with sharp and angular lines and is large enough for its three-pronged silhouette to be made out from even "dozens" of kilometres away.[1]
Due to the presence of the middle troop bay, the "Super Spirit" can carry two vehicles such as Ekesan-pattern Umbra troop transports and a much greater payload of infantry, carrying up to fifteen troops in each of the three hulls for a total complement of forty-five. However, this increased payload does come with disadvantages, with the two vehicles blocking the pilot's view of the ground below, and the positioning of the central troop bay requiring both vehicles to be disembarked before the infantry inside can be released.[1]
Operational history[edit]
One such vehicle was employed by the Silent Shadow during the Battle of Netherop. During the battle, the vehicle deployed a large complement of Sangheili and two Umbra troop transports.[1]
