Team Omega is a fast reaction unit of SPARTAN-II supersoldiers. During the Human-Covenant War, they were deployed to defend human colonies under attack by the Covenant, their roles including the reinforcement of local defenses to buy time for UNSC forces to respond, emergency evacuation, and various asset denial operations.[5][2][6]
Known members[edit]
During the Battle of Arcadia in February 2531, Omega contained six members: Leon-011, Robert-025, August-099, Vannak-134, Riz-028, and Kai-125.[7] During their deployment to Arcadia City, four members were armed with anti-tank weapons; two wielded M6 Spartan Lasers and the other two used four-tubed rocket launchers of an unknown model. The other two members carried AIE-486H machine guns.[4] Along with Red Team, they field-tested the earliest known iteration of energy shielding technology with their MJOLNIR powered armor.[8]
A later incarnation of the team, whose survival was discerned by the crew of the Spirit of Fire in 2559 from UNSC records on the Ark, consisted of Leon, Robert, and August, armed with an energy sword, a portable plasma cannon, and an ARC-920 railgun respectively.[5][2]

History[edit]
Human-Covenant War[edit]
Formed primarily for asset denial operations,[6] Omega Team is typically deployed with the goal of breaking the enemy's hold long enough in order to reinforce local defenses and buy time for a UNSC response. During the Human-Covenant War, Omega Team was deployed to several colony worlds threatened by the Covenant, assisting in emergency evacuation efforts and enacting classified last-stand protocols. The team proved highly proficient at the denial of critical resources, data, and even personnel to the Covenant by any means necessary, which sometimes required the deployment of weapons of mass destruction.[6] During the early years of the war, Omega Team and Red Team worked closely with each other on several occasions.[5][2]
At some point in 2527, Omega Team may have been deployed against Insurrectionist forces in an operation on Hellas against insurgent forces employing the use of Rumbledrugs. However, it is possible that Omega Team was merely briefed on this operation rather than actively assigned to it.[10]
When the planet Arcadia fell under attack by the Covenant on February 9, 2531, Team Omega was deployed to an unknown location on the planet; the three members of Red Team (Jerome, Alice, and Douglas) were meanwhile tasked with defending the capital, Arcadia City.[11] Team Omega was eventually redirected to the outskirts of Arcadia City to reinforce Red Team and the Marines from the UNSC Spirit of Fire. Following a twenty-minute delay Team Omega reinforced their beleaguered comrades and swiftly drove the Covenant from the capital.[4]
In 2540, the team of six Spartans temporarily reformed for operations on Hellas, but members Riz-028, Kai-125, and Vannak-134 were assigned to Silver Team shortly afterward.[7]
During the late stages of the Human-Covenant War, or the earliest years of the post-war era, Omega Team were involved in the testing of numerous "Breach" development iterations on the MJOLNIR Mark VI platform. These field tests were successful, and saw improvements folded into later GEN2 and GEN3 productions.[13]
Post-war[edit]
At some point following the New Phoenix Incident in July 2557, the Forerunner legal entity known as Catalog took note of Red and Omega Teams. Catalog stated that personally identifying information about the Spartans in question could not be revealed pending the investigation of Red Team's actions in the Battle of Trove.[14] However, during the Second Ark Conflict, UNSC records recovered from the Henry Lamb research outpost showed that Team Omega had survived the Human-Covenant War and currently consists of three members: Leon-011, Robert-025, and August-099.[5][2][6]
In 2560, Omega Team was deployed to Arcadia. After observing a deal take place between Optican CEO Adam Andrews and Kig-Yar working for Nor Fel, Omega Team proceeded to eliminate the Kig-Yar in order to prevent their acquisition of a R'awuw-pattern Scarab's focus beam. While investigating the cargo manifest of the Kig-Yar's Phantom dropship, Omega Team discovered that the aliens had delivered Andrews a shipment of rumbledrugs, causing them to wonder what use Optican had for the drugs.[10]
Gameplay[edit]
Halo Wars[edit]
Spartan units from Team Omega appear only in the fifth Halo Wars campaign level of Arcadia Outskirts. They are essentially clones in gameplay terms: all six members share voice files with and carry the same weapons as the named members of Red Team. The player must fend off Covenant attacks for 20 minutes until the arrival of Team Omega, which then triggers the final objective of destroying the Covenant citadel.
Halo Wars 2[edit]
Three members of Team Omega, including Leon-011, Robert-025, and August-099, are available as special units when playing as leader Commander Jerome-092 from the downloadable content "Icons of War" Pack. In addition to being armed with different weapons, each Spartan unit is equipped with energy shielding and capable of boarding enemy vehicles. They can only be accessed through Commander Jerome's Leader Power Omega Team Drop, and cannot be dropped again until all Team Omega members are killed. Omega Team can only be accessed once Tier 5 Leader Power is unlocked and it takes 1 Leader Point to assign them.
Phoenix log[edit]
Enemies' end. Omega Team is a Spartan special forces team available exclusively to Commander Jerome. All three members of Omega Team are deployed into battle via drop pods. Legendary soldiers in their own right, Omega Team members inspire nearby units in addition to packing heavy weapons. Robert-O25 is armed with a fast—firing Plasma Cannon, Leon-011 is fitted for close—quarters combat with a custom Energy Sword, and August—099 is a crack shot with her Railgun. As Spartans, each member of Omega Team has energy shields and the ability to Hijack enemy vehicles. Omega Team is a fast reaction team of Spartan super-soldiers deployed to colony worlds threatened by the Covenant. Using the fastest transports available, Omega Team rushes to reinforce local defenses and buy time for a UNSC response or – more often – an emergency evacuation and enforcement of classified last-stand protocols. In this latter role Omega Team is responsible for denial of critical resources, data, and personnel to the enemy by any means necessary, including deployment of weapons of mass destruction to prevent capture and utilization. Red Team worked closely with Omega Team several times, including the defense of Arcadia’s capital city when it was attacked in 2531, but were separated when the Spirit of Fire departed the system to chase retreating Covenant forces. Commander Jerome has discerned they survived the war, based on UNSC records recovered from the Henry Lamb facility, but he can only speculate as to their current activities. |

The armour suites for Leon-011, Robert-025, and August-099 later made an appearance in the Halo Infinite shop in Content Update 29 (January 30 2024-March 5 2024). The bundle costs 3800 credits and includes a large list of cosmetics. Each member's full suite of gear can be purchased as an individual bundle.

Production notes[edit]
- "If they want war, we'll give 'em war!"
- — Spartan Group Omega's leader.[16]
- Five Spartans identified as "Spartan Group Omega" appear at the end of the announcement trailer for Halo Wars. They wear an early design of the Mjolnir Mark IV that was abandoned later in the game's development. This design had much bulkier armor plating and a helmet reminiscent of the Mark VI, whereas the final version's helmet closely resembles that of the Mark V.
- Team Omega's designation is something of an anomaly. All of the major Spartan-II teams follow a color-themed naming convention, with Blue, Red, Green, Black and Gray teams known. During the Fall of Reach, Red Team split into various sub-units with designations based on the Greek alphabet, suggesting Omega may have been a splinter of Red or some other major team; however, their official description suggests they are a more permanent formation.[2]
- In "Repairs", the twelfth campaign level of Halo Wars, the members of Red Team are mislabeled as "TEAM OMEGA" as opposed to the Spartans' unique tags.
- 343 Industries has noted in a Canon Fodder post that both the concept art and the final Halo Wars 2 in-game models of Omega Team could be considered authoritative in some capacity, stating that "Discerning lore-lovers should feel free to consider both iterations fair game for expanding their imaginations."[2] Furthermore, the 2022 edition of the Halo Encyclopedia utilizes said concept art for its depiction of Omega Team, firmly cementing its canon status.[6] In 2024's Content Update 29, each member of Omega Team's armor suites were fully-realized in canon as armor bundles for Halo Infinite.[17]
