Phantom is the name applied to a series of aerospace craft, most of them dropships.
Summary[edit]
The Phantom is a type of craft utilized by multiple factions, including the Covenant and various splinter groups, such as the Banished, the Swords of Sanghelios, and Jul 'Mdama's Covenant. Typically used as a dropship, the Phantom is commonly seen equipped with a heavy plasma cannon at the nose of the craft, and a Class-1 directed energy cannon mounted at each of the Phantom's two side doors.
The Phantom often holds dozens of troops in it's bay, and often is used to deploy as well as supporting troops, as it has armor capable of withstanding any small arms fire, and only being significantly damaged by heavy fire such as the rocket launcher. These advantages, as well as having three supporting turrets, makes it excellent for deploying and supporting troops on the battlefield.
Types[edit]
- Covenant
- Ru'swum-pattern Phantom – The Ru'swum-pattern Phantom was the most common Phantom variant in service of the Covenant during the Human-Covenant War. It now comprises a sizeable chunk of the fleets of the Covenant remnants, due to scarcities of other variants.
- Kez'katu-pattern Phantom – Introduced towards the end of the war, though stocks are rare in the postwar period due to the loss of High Charity.
- R'shwupa-pattern Phantom – A larger, exoatmospheric type of the Phantom designed for operations in space. Introduced as an executive transport for fleet commanders.[1]
- Mikpramu-pattern Phantom – Post-war variant of the Phantom employed by the Swords of Sanghelios and Jul 'Mdama's Covenant by October 2558.
- Banished
- Eklon'dal Workshop Phantom – A modified variant of the Phantom dropship employed by the Banished, sporting Banished armour and livery.
