:::Well, ummm....the Marine Corps has Majors too and seeing as ONI is a component of the UNSC Naval Service, they're far more likely to be serving in their ranks. COL James Ackerson was a special case, a liason of sorts between the Army and Naval Intelligence. There wouldn't be too many of these sorts of guys around. Anyhoo, nothing states that Marines hundreds of years in the future can't be versed in anything other than ground/air combat or logistics. {{User:Grizzlei/Sig}} | :::Well, ummm....the Marine Corps has Majors too and seeing as ONI is a component of the UNSC Naval Service, they're far more likely to be serving in their ranks. Name[edit]
Is it likely that this ONI operative's name is simply a pseudonym? I mean, what's the chances of an ONI operative having two of the most common names? SomethingDifferent 19:50, 30 July 2011 (EDT)
- Considering that they're two of the most common names... Quite likely. But yeah, it's also odd to name someone 'John Smith', because no one believes someone could really have that name.-- Forerunner 20:35, 30 July 2011 (EDT)
- As I recall - I haven't read Evolutions in over a year - the Marines express suspicion over whether "John Smith" is his real name. Of course, I might be misremembering that aspect of the story. --Courage never dies. 21:38, 30 July 2011 (EDT)
Branch[edit]
Shouldn't this guy be Navy? 1-1 Marines
- The Navy doesn't have a Major rank. The equivalent rank is Lieutenant Commander. He is therefore a Marine or Army officer attached to Naval Intelligence - more likely to be a Marine, given the historical closeness between the two branches, but Army ONI officers aren't impossible. -- Qura 'Morhek The Autocrat of Morheka 16:37, 16 December 2012 (EST)
- If he is a Major, then he's Army like Ackerson. Marines aren't trained in high-end biology; I doubt they get assigned scientist jobs in the future. Tex the Spartan

- Lemme see, there's Benti. Even though Lopez repeatedly calls her "Private", she's a Corpsman-they just forgot that the lowest rank a Corpsman can have is Corpsman Recruit, not Private.
