A Walk in the Woods is a piece included in the Halo: Original Soundtrack. It was remade as Heretic, Hero in the Halo 2: Original Soundtrack, and remade again as "Another Walk", part of Released, in the Halo 3: Original Soundtrack.
Appearances
The only two levels in Halo: CE in which it can be heard is Template:Levelname, after the land bridge with two Banshees. It continues until the player reaches the bottom floor and Cortana tells the player to commandeer the Ghosts, and in Template:Levelname, during the cutscene after the last pulse generator is destroyed, until Cortana transports both her and the Chief out.
Overview
The piece is dominated by synthetic woodwinds and a bass, which together start off solo before being joined by a steel drum at 00:16. Starting at 00:29, the woodwinds begin to fade out, allowing the drums to begin dominating the piece with a pulsing, regular beat. At 00:38, the winds join back in, re-establishing the melody of the piece. At 01:07, the melody fades out again, to be replaced by contrasting beats on cymbals; at 01:13, the melody returns, now with the cymbals laid over it to lend a secondary beat to the piece. At 01:43, the melody fades out for good, allowing the piece to gently conclude with cymbals sounding over the consistent pulse of the drum.
