The M8823 Human Entry Vehicle is a model of drop pod utilised by the Colonial Military Authority (CMA) and United Nations Space Command (UNSC). The M8823 entered service in 2461. and was heavily employed by the CMA and UNSC during the Insurrection. During the Human-Covenant War it was primarily employed on smaller ships that did not have the facilities to transport dedicated ODST groups,[4] including the Charon-class light frigate and Stalwart-class light frigate.

Operational history[edit]

During the Human-Covenant War, M8823s were commonly employed by Charon and Stalwart-class UNSC frigates. 600 were also present aboard the Phoenix-class colony ship refit UNSC Spirit of Fire[5], and 124 aboard UNSC Infinity.[6] For its refit for Operation: RED FLAG, 216 were part of the complement of the UNSC Pillar of Autumn.[7]

During the Battle of Installation 05, John-117 and First Platoon deployed to the surface of the ring from UNSC In Amber Clad,[8] with ODSTs later deploying from UNSC Forward Unto Dawn during the Battle of Installation 00.[9] M8823s were later used to transport Sunray 1-1 to the surface of the Ark during the Second Ark Conflict.[10]
