Malurok (Decided Heart in English) is a former Covenant planet, jointly-held between the Sangheili and Yanme'e populations that have resided there for centuries.[1]
Overview[edit]
Topography and ecology[edit]
From a cursory examination, Malurok's surface appears inhospitable. It is a harsh world featuring a number of barren atolls.[1][2] Beneath the surface, however, are labyrinthine cities and elaborate halls that house millions in comfort.[1] Large urban areas and keeps also exist on the surface.[3] A significant portion of Malurok is covered by water and a species of aquatic ray-like creature brought by Sangheili to multiple worlds can be found swimming in it.[4]
Locations[edit]
Known residents[edit]

- Parg Vol - Sangheili terrorist[5]
- Ripa 'Moramee - Arbiter
History[edit]
Covenant era[edit]
Malurok was settled in the early years of the Covenant[6] by Sangheili kaidons and Yanme'e hive queens.[1]
Since then, these two groups have managed their own affairs though the empire did make use of the colony. Many cycles prior to 2531, a Kig-Yar pirate prince named Krith seized some amount of power on Malurok only to have his reign ended by strike force commanded by Ripa 'Moramee, a native of the planet. Shortly following the defeat of Krith, 'Moramee attempted a coup against his own kaidon in the state of Moram. He failed to murder the leadership of the clan and for this he was tried and imprisoned at Weeping Shadows of Sorrow. He was also due to be executed after one cycle had passed but he was spared this fate by being made an Arbiter.[3]
Post-war[edit]
After the Covenant tore itself apart in late 2552, Malurok's governing entities finally were free to be truly independent polities.[1] However, the planet did briefly enter a period of civil conflict.[6]
During the Created uprising, the Created enforced a peace that would result in a detente between the warring factions.[6]
Government and society[edit]
- "Guilty! For your heinous crimes, we sentence you to a cycle in the Weeping Shadows of Sorrow--after which we will slowly extinguish your pathetic existence."
- — A judge sentences Ripa 'Moramee.
Malurok is governed by independent Sangheili kaidons and Yanme'e hive queens. Before the undoing of the Covenant it was considered one of its primary worlds.[2][5][7][8] The hierarchs used Malurok to gather, train, and equip legions of troops as well as fleets of ships. In addition, the world was home to a good number of fortresses which still remain standing, which caused it to be recognized as a military base itself. The bureaucrats on High Charity were never able to find fault with the quality or quantity of the planet's tithes despite the independent sentiments expressed by its leaders.[1] Sangheili that were found guilty by a court of committing heinous crimes could be sentenced to imprisonment and execution through extended and punitive means.[3]
Economy[edit]
Malurok is known as a world characterized by industry.[1] Following the collapse of the Covenant, Malurok Armory manufactured Mikpramu-pattern Phantoms, as the dropships were sought by both the Swords of Sanghelios and Jul 'Mdama's Covenant.[4]
Culture[edit]
Though first settled by Sangheili and Yanme'e, eventually at least two other species, Kig-Yar and Unggoy, resided on Malurok while the Covenant was in control.[3] The kaidons and hive queens on the planet were proud to the point of insolence when they were still Covenant subjects. In its absence, their ambitions have been unleashed.[1]
Trivia[edit]
- The name of the colony is similar to that of the Yanme'e homeworld, Palamok, reflecting its co-settlement by the species.[9]
- Malurok may be home to the Vassal Workshops of Clan Makan and Clan Vol, given that Parg Vol was born there.
