This unnamed heavy corvette was used by Arbiter Var 'Gatanai as his flagship.

Operational History

Arbiter Var 'Gatanai used this corvette as his flagship during the Fall of Reach, transporting the captured Forerunner keystone and the human Smart AI Cortana aboard before the planet was glassed.[2]

Despite Makee's protests, Var attempted to return to High Charity, but Cortana projected John-117's memories of the Halo ring, allowing Makee to convince the Arbiter to go rogue and seek out Halo themselves.[2]

While Makee attempted to determine the ring's location, Sangheili priest Uto 'Mdama pushed for a return to High Charity. Needing John to use the other keystone at the same time in order to activate the vision of Halo again, Makee allowed Cortana access to the ship's communications systems. Cortana led John to the Madrigal keystone on Onyx, but also informed Admiral Margaret Parangosky of the ship's position. Upon detecting the transmission, Uto instigated a mutiny, leading to a clash between his forces and the Arbiter's loyalists.[3] Makee was able to kill Uto with Cortana's help and the mutiny was eventually put down, but it resulted in the deaths of the entire crew aside from Var and Makee.[4]

Using the stars visible in her vision of the ring, Makee was able to pinpoint Installation 04's location in the Soell system. However, as the corvette moved towards the ring, it came under heavy fire from the First Fleet of Solemn Accord, the very same fleet that the Arbiter had once commanded.[4] Heavily damaged, the corvette began breaking apart as it entered Halo's gravity well. With their ship unable to survive atmospheric entry, Var and Makee abandoned ship in a Covenant drop pod.[5]

Seeking to rescue Cortana, John space-jumped onto the ship with the help of advice from Dr. Catherine Halsey on where to breach. John discovered that Cortana had uploaded herself into the ship's systems in order to survive an attack by Makee and uploaded the AI into his armor. The corvette crashed into Halo's surface and was destroyed, but John and Cortana were thrown from the wreckage and survived.[5]
