Unknown directed energy weapon |
This Unidentified Sentinel variant was an extremely large Sentinel-like machine used by the Forerunners during the Forerunner-Flood war.[1] It is one of the largest Sentinel variants observed to date, dwarfing the Strato-Sentinel in comparison. Its armament includes an extremely powerful energy weapon, capable of firing a lightning-fast energy beam at long range and producing an explosion powerful enough to level entire cities.[1]
These Sentinels deploy out of the ground vertically, with the "bottom" of the Sentinel in the vertical configuration rotated to face forward, firing the aforementioned energy beam.[1]
Production notes
- "Basically filling the role of mobile, full-service construction operations, these Petronas Towers-sized sentinels extract raw materials from the source, processes them in transit and deposits building materials at the work site. The work site being a Halo."
- — The Art of Halo 3[2]
Although first appearing in Halo Legends' Origins part one short, these Sentinels were originally designed and concepted by Bungie for Halo 3, making them one of a number of designs including the Guardian and Strato-Sentinels and Forerunner City to brought back from the cutting room floor in such a manner. In the original game, the Sentinels were intended to be similar to the Strato-Sentinels, involved with construction and materials extraction for the Halo Array.[2]
