Skins, also known as coatings, are an element of player customisation that debuted in Halo 4, were later featured in Halo 5: Guardians, and will return in Halo Infinite. Following a series of updates, the Halo: The Master Chief Collection editions of Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 3 allow players to customize their weapon, vehicle, and armor's aesthetic, similarly to armor permutations.
