Rise of humanity
The planet was colonized and settled prior to the twenty-sixth century by twenty-two scientists and pioneers aboard UNSC Gannick. These original colonists perished exploring the planet's once-hostile environment; the planet was then named after these colonists.[3]
Human-Covenant war

Following the glassing of Reach, Gannick 22 is now home to the largest population of moas.[3]
Post-war
By 2556, Gannick 22 had become a large population center, as it had been left unscathed throughout the Human-Covenant War.[2]
