I've informed them that they are free to use our content, partnership or not, per our license as long as they include a list of our contributors or link back to the article. Forums: Index Community Proposal Halo Archive partnership
Forumheader-image.png

The Halo Archive is interested in expanding their partnership with us. Here is their proposal:

The Archive is entering a new phase of development. With our community more stable than ever, more resources than ever, and more going on than ever, we'd like to expand upon our current partnership. We've got several Halopedia staff members and even admins on the Archive.

While we do have a partnership, we would like official permission to use resources from Halopedia to work on articles, videos, and more. With this partnership we would spotlight Halopedia in all works we cited from Halopedia. We would love to have the favor returned by spotlighting the Archive on Halopedia.

Furthermore, we are fully willing to provide a full platform to discuss all things Halo and Halopedia for you all. We already have our Halopedia improvement center and many other resources. If you'd like, we could set up official Halopedia boards for your members to discuss and improve upon Halopedia.

I've informed them that they are free to use our content, partnership or not, per our license as long as they include a list of our contributors or link back to the article. As for the questions of us linking to them more and using their forums, it would rely on our wiki editors to actually add the links and/or use the forums, so I'm leaving it to the community to decide. --Steve (talk) firefox_27x15.png 06:02, 7 September 2016 (EDT)

It's a definite yes for me. Given the amount of overlap that already exists between us and the Archive, we might as well make it official. --Our answer is at hand. (Talk to me.) 08:14, 7 September 2016 (EDT)

Seeing as I put majority of my WIPs that eventually go up here, on the Archive first. I feel this is a great idea.
Tbh I also find the forum-like things here not really the greatest. And having a place that is offering to use its forums fixes that for me.(Note I love the Talk pages here)
Only cons I can really think is, getting the system started, and getting people to not just make requests with the new system. I even bet there might be a few people that use this place who dont wanna use Halo Archive. So if anything that is a few things to consider.
Regardless I am all for this idea. I been after a community to start this trend of deeper community partnerships within the community. Perhaps I can bring this up later here.-CIA391 (talk) 09:25, 7 September 2016 (EDT)

Ideas

Should we... I dunno.

  • Add a link to the Halo Archive forums in the Navigation bar? Perhaps replace, or even work aside the current Halopedia forums?
  • Even add a note when signing up that a Halo Archive account is recommended.(perhaps even send a email to all users saying the new partnership and that its recommended)
  • Also dont we need to add Halo Archive in the "Affiliate Links" in the relevant pages?

I would do the following but atlas I dont have the power. xD -CIA391 (talk) 14:44, 11 September 2016 (EDT)

Edit 1 cause I forgot to say it: Halo Archive should kinda so a similar thing. Makes the partnership more clear. If that can be addressed then great. -CIA391 (talk) 14:47, 11 September 2016 (EDT)
We already have them linked in the Main Page affiliates section and on the Community Portal. Since emailing all users on the site is not possible, a site notice that recommends creating an account on the Archive is really the only option. There is also a link to the Archive on the Sidebar under Related Sites > Community. However, we could make a new subsection there for affiliates.--Spartacus TalkContribs 14:29, 13 September 2016 (EDT)
If we wanted the partnership to be extra visible, we could also add a link to the sidebar right below the Destinypedia link. --Jugus (talk) 00:49, 14 September 2016 (EDT)
