- At 0630 hours, the Spartan-IIs, in their second year of training, are sent to the Military Wilderness Training Preserve in the snowcapped mountain range on Reach.[3][4]

- At 2104 hours, the Spartans have returned to the Reach Naval Academy after stealing an Albatross dropship. John-117 earns the status of Squad Leader.[5][4]
