:Regarding "active AI transfer", we see the Chief transferring Cortana into the Covenant bomb at the beginning of Halo 2 through his gauntlet, rather than manually removing the chip from his neural interface. We know from Halsey's journal that shields weren't originally intended for the Mark V, but were moved up to the earlier suit.
