The M310 120mm smooth-bore high-velocity cannon is an anti-tank weapon that serves, in pairs, as the main armament of the M850 Main Battle Tank.[1] It fire high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) shells at very high velocity; the kinetic force adds to the explosive firepower of the shell.[2] The weapon can be loaded with S1 canister shells, which produce a large, high-volume blast of explosive fragments, greatly increasing the weapon's lethality against infantry.[1]
