Vrak'is is a former Ibie'shan Kig-Yar pirate-queen,[2][3] who ruled an underground pirate settlement beneath the surface of the planet Ven III.[1]
Biography[edit]

By 2558, Vrak'is established her pirate kingdom on the volcanic planet of Ven III; her outpost's operations had brought her and those serving her considerable wealth. In May 2558, the Office of Naval Intelligence sought to eradicate the pirate-queen's nest by dispatching the UNSC Infinity, in the guise of an operation to apprehend a bioweapon from a Sangheili terrorist. On May 10, the Sangheili mercenary Ayit 'Sevi arrived at the underground city while pursued by Spartan-IVs and demanded a direct audience with her.[1]
'Sevi offered to sell her a Spartan he had captured on the planet, which Vrak'is accepted. When Vrak'is inquired about the bioweapon in his possession, the Sangheili reassured her it would be taken far away and warned that human reinforcements would come for the captured Spartan. Realizing that the humans would descend on their planet, Vrak'is deployed a fleet to halt them upon their arrival and ordered every available ship to launch a counter-offensive in response to war. As Infinity's assault crafts began to breach the planet's atmosphere, Vrak'is prepared to join the rest of their fleets in orbit and overwhelm the Infinity with force. However, before she and her ships could exit a vent to the surface, a pair of HAVOK tactical nuclear weapons dropped by a Longsword detonated in the entrance of the conical landscape and completely obliterated the outpost.[1]
Although Vrak'is survived the destruction of her outpost, she was left with heavy scars, with her plume of golden hair being burnt away. Having lost most of her fortune, Vrak'is became a recluse, roaming Kig-Yar space onboard her raider Daggerboard to challenge treasure-seekers to eccentric games in exchange for her trinkets and bounties. She notably played a game of liar's dice with Writh Kul, who was playing for the queen's Pinpoint Needler; although Vrak'is won, she ultimately gave away the needler, citing that she had no use for the weapon, which would be more useful with Writh Kul given her relationship with the Banished.[2]
