Flora that covers alien worlds

The galaxy of Halo is full of alien life, some friendly, some hostile, and some unknowable. Humanity left the confines of Earth in the late-21st century and encountered alien fauna and flora across a number of colony worlds. However, nothing could compare to the alien Covenant: an empire consisting of numerous alien species in a strict caste hierarchy led by the San'Shyuum, or "Prophets", and the Sangheili, or "Elites".

In the ancient years of the Forerunners, the galaxy teemed with life, though most of this was wiped out during the Forerunners' devastating war with a parasitic hivemind organism known as the Flood. In the final years of the war, The Forerunners worked to index the life of the galaxy to ensure its survival, ultimately interring sampled populations across their megastructures until such a time as the galaxy was safe again and life could be reseeded.

Species of the Covenant
The Covenant rose at the conclusion of a bloody war between the Prophets and the Elites and went on to form a 3,000-year empire spanning the stars and encompassing numerous species. While the empire was dissolved in 2552, numerous remnant factions have since gone on to divide up its carcass.

Humanity

In the 26th century, humanity maintain an interstellar empire spanning hundreds of worlds and centred on their homeworld Earth. However, this was not always the case: in ancient times hundreds of millennia ago, humanity roamed the stars as an ancient civilisation known as the Ancestors; a sister-civilisation to the Forerunners. Both clashed numerous times in their long history, leading to the Ancestors' defeat at the Forerunners' hands. Despite this, humanity were chosen by the Forerunners to inherit their legacy and re-seeded on Earth after the Forerunners' final act of galactic omnicide.

Ancient humanity consisted of several distinct species of human, including:

You can't imagine how exciting this is! To have a record of all of our lost time! Human history, is it? Fascinating.
