Template talk:City infobox
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
Parameters[edit]
The parameters in this template requires some revision. For example, |City=
should be changed to |Name=
which refers to the name of the city. It is also the standard path for template when referring to the title of the subject/article. |Built=
and |destroyed=
are irrelevant as it is the content of the article responsible to explain what happened and the outcomes. This is my final thoughts and just a suggestion; look at how Wikipedia does it with their Cities article and learn about the parameters in their templates.--Lol@Phailure 17:26, October 27, 2009 (UTC)
- Honestly, I don't really see the point of this template. The information displayed in it can easily be conveyed in the article proper. An infobox may be more relevant if we actually had more information about cities in the Halo universe, such as population, population density, etc. With the info we have, the template seems redundant; it's there just for the sake of it. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 17:35, August 25, 2010 (UTC)
"Notable structure(s)" field[edit]
Per section title, what exactly is supposed to be listed in this field? After looking through the articles using this infobox, I noticed a lot of different things being used in the field, such as events and birthplaces being listed. This doesn't make any sense in the context of the field, as it seems notable buildings should be listed as per the title, not random events and etc.--Spartacus Talk • Contribs 02:03, 18 December 2013 (EST)
- I suppose that's because the "notable" field used to say "Notable events" but it was changed a while ago and the pages weren't changed with it. Though in the event there are no buildings of note the field could be used for notable events and such, just with the text changed to reflect that. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 10:35, 18 December 2013 (EST)
In my update logs, the title for that field is "Notable stuff". Doesn't sound too encyclopaedic, so I changed it to "Notable structures" since it is move relevant to the "city" subject (i.e. notable structures in New Alexandria) than "notable events" (which is repetitive and somewhat redundant once you start comparing other "city" articles). — subtank 15:43, 19 December 2013 (EST)
