Talk:Unidentified insurrectionist group

From Halopedia, the Halo wiki

Untitled[edit]

Are they really UNSC Rebels? I don't have Halo Wars demo downloaded, so I wouldn't know. Could someone confirm this? Are they really UNSC Rebels or are they the URF?-5ub7ank(7alk) 20:28, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

In game they are simply called Rebel Infantry, and their barracks are just called Rebel Base 112 23:38, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Like Subtank said, they must either be UNSC defectors from the Second Battle of Harvest or part of the Insurrection; Harvest was home to Jerald Mulkey Ander, after all. --Braidenvl 23:44, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

The Secessionist Union, then? -UNSC Trooper File:unsctrooper_small.jpg|14px]] TalkMy Work 20:46, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

That's true, although I think the "Insurrection" moniker was used as a catch-all term for all rebel groups during the aptly named Insurrection, not just the ones in Epsilon Indi. --"A government strong enough to give you everything you want...is strong enough to take everything you have." -Thomas Jefferson 12:46, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Should I add a section listing their types of units? --The Demonic Idiot 09:11, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

Okay, I'm moving the page to "Unnamed Rebel Group".Flood12345

In the game they are seen using a covenant super turret. Could this mean they have ties with the covenant? Bustie24 03:00, May 11, 2010 (UTC)

MAG resemblance[edit]

Sure is SVER in here, what with the hoods...

Canon?[edit]

I'm going to dispute the canonicity (and maybe even the notability) of this article. This group only ever appears in multiplayer and outside of that, we have no information on this group. In my opinion, they are not canon, but were inserted into multiplayer as a gameplay element used to occupy bases not captured by UNSC or Covenant in multiplayer.--Spartacus TalkContribs 16:06, 18 March 2014 (EDT)

I agree, though their emblem was canonized by Forward Unto Dawn. A "Gameplay" section on the main Insurrectionist article would suffice. --Our vengeance is at hand. Gravemind.svg (Talk to me.) 19:25, 18 March 2014 (EDT)
Well I can't really argue with that. Still though, could "Ex-Terra" possibly be the name of the group, or is that just a slogan?--Spartacus TalkContribs 23:01, 21 May 2014 (EDT)
My guess is it's just a slogan, probably something to the effect of "no longer tied to Earth". Without the dash, though, the Latin would actually translate to "from Earth". Whoops. Way to mix your message, Innies. :) --Our vengeance is at hand. Gravemind.svg (Talk to me.) 23:21, 21 May 2014 (EDT)
A defiant fist is a pretty generic symbol that has a long history of being appropriated for one cause or another. For all we know, it's Insurrectionist graffiti, an extremely recognisable symbol with potent associations in the mind of the public that can be easily spread with a 26th century spray can. To my mind, I associate it with fascism or nazism, but I know that it's been associated with Roman republicanism and black civil rights at different times. Defiance is a pretty universal emotion. -- Qura 'Morhek The Autocrat of Morheka 01:24, 22 May 2014 (EDT)
