Talk:UNSC Engineering Corps
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
Role[edit]
Would the ENGCORP not also be responsable for the other military engineering work for the UNSC like the building of bases and fortifications, as the SeaBees do for the US Navy? They should also be responsable for work like clearing mine fields, unexploded ordenence disposal, post conflict reconstruction etc. Just a thought. Grandpa was a Royal Canadian Engineer; he drove a buldozer in WW2.
- Nothing has been said of ENGCORP's other responsibilities. --ED(talk)(shockfront) 21:34, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
Rename[edit]
With the long-lasting renaming proposal, it may be of use to note that it is referred to as the "UNSC Engineering Corps" in the Halo Encyclopedia. --NightHammer(talk)(contribs) 22:24, 4 January 2016 (EST)
- It has also occurred to me that it's possible the "Corps of Engineers" mentioned in MitHoM is a Marine formation while the ENGCORP is a separate organization not directly under any military branch. The Marine Corps of Engineers might be charged with basic combat engineer/sapper tasks while the Engineering Corps' duties seem to be primarily non-military and larger in scale, judging by the planetary survey in GoO. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 00:13, 5 January 2016 (EST)
- Good point. Plus we also have the "UNSC Army Corps of Engineers". Don't know if we should make pages for each of them or... --NightHammer(talk)(contribs) 00:19, 5 January 2016 (EST)
- So should we split this article into three different articles? The UNSC Engineering Corps, UNSC Army Corps of Engineering, and UNSC Marine Corps of Engineering? --NightHammer(talk)(contribs) 11:07, 10 January 2016 (EST)
- Probably, although isn't it "Corps of Engineers" with the Army and Marines rather than "Corps of Engineering"? Also, where was the Army Corps of Engineers mentioned? It must've been somewhere, but if there isn't much information on it beyond the fact it exists, it could also be listed on the UNSC Army page like the Army's airborne elements. The Marine Corps counterpart has a bit more (though not much) going for it with their one identified member and one known mission they participated in, but technically I'd be fine with having pages for all three. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 11:23, 10 January 2016 (EST)
- Yeah, you're right. It is Corps of Engineers. The Army Corps of Engineers was what Tanaka was in before she became a Spartan. So we have Escalation, Waypoint, and her Limited Edition card to check to see if there is enough information on it. --NightHammer(talk)(contribs) 11:25, 10 January 2016 (EST)
- Just checked all three sources and it looks like there might be enough info to warrant it an article. It may be about on par with the Marines' Corps of Engineers. --NightHammer(talk)(contribs) 11:30, 10 January 2016 (EST)
- Went ahead and made this article. I would think it could be enough for its own article. If not, we can merge it with the Army article. --NightHammer(talk)(contribs) 16:44, 10 January 2016 (EST)
