Talk:Thomas Lasky
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
Rank as of Halo 4[edit]
So we know that the Lasky who appeared in the end of the trailer is a Major. However, throughout the Halo 4 panel during RTX, 343i employees refer to him as "Commander Lasky". Is it a mistake in the prop makers, or the 343i employees? —S331 (COM • Mission Log • Profile) 02:56, 17 July 2012 (EDT)
- It doesn't state anywhere that he's a Marine Major. While the gold oak leaf would suggest that, Lasky wears the exact same set of insignia that Commander Miranda Keyes wore on her uniform in Halo 3. Grizzlei ♥ ツ
Old Lasky[edit]
I'm not sure but he looks a bit like Ty Olsson. 93.197.101.24 18:09, 17 July 2012 (EDT)
- That he does and considering a lot of the cast in Forward Unto Dawn are local talent from Vancouver, its a very real possibility. Grizzlei ♥ ツ
Supposed Death[edit]
For those who were thinking Lasky might die in Halo 4, please get rid of that theory. I was at the 343 Panel at NYCC and Kiki Wolfkill confirmed Lasky survives. Yoonhyuk-740 08:02PM, November 20th, 2012 (EST)
Need More Images[edit]
I don't know about what the rest of you people are thinking, but I'm thinking this article needs a couple or so images added to the gallery section. I know we do have one of Thomas Lasky in uniform aboard the UNSC Infinity and in CAMS cadet uniform. But we do not have any images whatsoever of Lasky wearing his training armor. Could someone somehow obtain a high-resolution image of Lasky in his CAMS training armor? That would be much appreciated. --Xamikaze330 (talk/contribs) 22:11, 20 October 2012 (EDT)Xamikaze330
- I actually forgot I held on to this. Will this suffice? Forgotten Helljumper 23:10, 20 October 2012 (EDT)
- Actually, this image supplied here by Kronos101 is of much higher quality. But thanks nonetheless, both of you. --Xamikaze330 (talk/contribs) 16:25, 21 October 2012 (EDT)Xamikaze330

Article Additions[edit]
This article would greatly benefit from a couple other additions: an Image Gallery category (which I can create, and will do soon), and the creation of a Quotes page of stuff from Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn and Halo 4: Spartan Ops, and other media in which Lasky is in. I will try to do it when I can, unless someone else beats me to it. --Xamikaze330 [Transmission|Commencing] 17:16, 25 November 2013 (EST)Xamikaze330
Lasky's Sidearm[edit]
The pistol on Lasky's leg doesn't look like an M6H, or even all that M6-like. Does anyone have any screenshots of it? Alex T Snow (talk) 03:49, 2 March 2014 (EST)
- To me, it really looks like Lasky's pistol is the M6C from Halo 2. I just did a comparison render of the Halo 2 Magnum, Lasky's sidearm holster (with as much of the pouch deleted as I could revealing a little of the sidearm mesh), and the Halo 4 Magnum. Based on overall shape, it seems to match the Halo 2 pistol much better than the Halo 4 variety. Not definitive, but very close. See my render to the right. -ScaleMaster117 (talk) 13:35, 2 March 2014 (EST)
- The bottom of the grip/magazine and especially the rear of the frame/slide definitely look like the C. Also, if I'm remembering the holster correctly, there isn't room for the scope module either; while I'm sure any M6 variant can attach/remove the scope module, the C is the only one depicted without it as standard. Something a little smaller and lighter would be good as a Captain's pistol too, so it makes sense. Alex T Snow (talk) 19:45, 2 March 2014 (EST)
Lasky's Rank in Halo 5[edit]
According to Catalog he's still a captain, and the ViDoc is a work in progress. ref—This unsigned comment was made by 86.139.215.60 (talk • contribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~
- The ViDoc is still a source of canon. He is clearly an Admiral in Halo 5: Guardians, the events of which take place after September 2558 (as per the most recent revision). Next time, you should post on the talk page right after you make the edit to avoid confusion.--Spartacus Talk • Contribs 16:08, 14 July 2015 (EDT)
- However, do note that Catalog said "Reference visual representation is [pro tem]" (placeholder), implying that the model we see in the ViDoc (the "reference visual representation") is a work in progress. I can't really see why Catalog would've otherwise made that post than to clarify that the Admiral bars in the ViDoc are a mistake. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 01:45, 17 July 2015 (EDT)
- Given that Infinity is a self-contained flotilla, a Senior Captain is the minimum rank I would expect to command Infinity, and making him an Admiral wouldn't be inappropriate since it is also the UNSC flagship. It is possible that 343 may change this before release. I hope they don't. But until then, I think we have to assume that he's an Admiral until the final copy contradicts it. -- Qura 'Morhek The Autocrat of Morheka 04:19, 17 July 2015 (EDT)
Doesn't Catalog contradict that? Alertfiend (talk) 05:11, 17 July 2015 (EDT)
- Catalog's canonity has always been a weird subject. We've taken its statements as unquestioned canon. But even here, what it's essentially said is that it may not be canon in the final game. At the moment, we have no idea whether it will change or stay the same, but the ViDoc represents the game as it exists during development. I doubt someone would have given him Admirals bars without thinking it through. -- Qura 'Morhek The Autocrat of Morheka 05:19, 17 July 2015 (EDT)
- Then again, it would also strike me as odd that Catalog would come out and clarify his rank if whoever's behind the account wasn't certain of the matter. Catalog leaves a ton of questions unanswered so this appears to me more like something that really is a mistake that they intend to fix. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 08:34, 17 July 2015 (EDT)
If anyone is still arguing about whether or not he is an Admiral or not check this picture that shows his Captain-ness. Alertfiend (talk) 04:56, 1 September 2015 (EDT)
- Yeah, that was one of the things I was really looking out for. I'm glad we finally got an answer. btw fixed that for ya :D -- Topal the Pilot (Talk|Contribs) 05:11, 1 September 2015 (EDT)
Thank you for that. Alertfiend (talk) 05:14, 1 September 2015 (EDT)
Hold it![edit]
This article states that John-117 fought a Mgalekgolo during the battle while escorting the cadets, and gave a shard of its armor to Thomas Lasky. This directly contradicts The Fall of Reach, which contains numerous lines of dialogue that implies that John had never seen Hunters before going to Cote d'Azur.
This is a major lore contradiction, and it's impossible to ignore. I propose we add it to this article's trivia section! *points finger like Phoenix Wright*—This unsigned comment was made by GoodMudkip (talk • contribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~
- The original 2001 run of TFOR presents many Covenant species as first being encountered in 2552 (Elites and Engineers being another example). This has largely been completely ignored since, and such lines were removed or altered in subsequent print runs. As such, this is no longer a stance accepted as canon by 343 and thus no longer inconsistent.BaconShelf (talk) 20:16, February 4, 2022 (EST)
- I see, thanks for clearing that up.GoodMudkip (talk) 12:11, February 18, 2022 (EST)
