Talk:Skirmisher Murmillo
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
I wonder why these guys are so rare[edit]
I don't remember seeing a single one in the campaign, and they only seem to appear very rarely in Firefight.
- That's because they're champions, while the shielded ones are murmillos, as shown in this game. Hyper Zergling 15:18, 1 October 2011 (EDT)
Of Murmillones and Champions[edit]
Recently, Iv'e made a thread about how I believe we mixed the Murmillo and Champion Ranks. I recieved positive replies, and Subtank suggested that I go ahead and change these articles.
So, in one week, I'm going to do it. Here are my arguments for it:
1.) Not only are they worth more points, but also the Firefight Score Board lists the Gold Skirmishers as Leaders. Orange Shielded Skirmishers, however, are listed as Specialists alongside Commandoes.
2.) The real life Murmillo Gladiators themselves used shields. This would make it a poor name for the Gold Skirmishers, who lack them.
3.) Gold Skirmishers' armor is not only gold (Which suggests very high rank to begin with), but is also more intricate. Just look at Jackal, Grunt, Elite, and Brute armor featured in Reach; the higher the rank, the more intricate the armor is.
4.) The Strategy Guide itself is full of errors. For instance, it mixes up Captain Keyes and Colonel Holland. For another, it calls the CCS-Battle Cruiser that was going to fry the Pillar of Autumn as a Corvette. We shouldn't have it as a "Go-To" when it comes to names.
5.) The McFarlane Figure of the Orange Shielded Skirmisher is called Murmillo. It can't be a typo; this is a name of a mass produced toy line of a popular series. Not only that, but McFarlane uses notes and computer models of Bungie and 343 Studios, meaning that they are getting their information for their products directly from the source. It is not comparable to something like a minor foot note in an encyclopedia.
So, if nobody gives me any convincing counter claims until next weekend, I'm going to change the Champion and Murmillo. Missing Mandible 16:52, 20 October 2011 (EDT)
