Talk:Sangheili Officer
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
The Officer seems more like a Major Domo to me :/ Both have red-colored armor, and lead the Minors and lesser troops into battle. -- General5 7 talk contribs email 21:41, June 19, 2010 (UTC)
- That's what I first thought, but they seem to be two distinct ranks. I think I saw a more traditional-looking Major in this gameplay video.--Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 13:35, June 20, 2010 (UTC)
- At what time, Jugus? The only red Sangheili I have seen on that vid were Officers. Missing Mandible 02:31, June 21, 2010 (UTC)
- Around 3:02, I think. The armor color seems darker than that of the officer, but the quality's too poor to actually tell for sure. Now when I look at it frame-by-frame, the helmet does seem a lot like the officer's helmet. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 07:07, June 21, 2010 (UTC)
- Around 3:03, if you boost the quailty to 460 and switch it to full screen, you can see that the helmet is in fact Officer. Missing Mandible 03:31, June 22, 2010 (UTC)

Thank you, for someone agreeing. All the other ranks in the game have a special armor perm for their rank (besides the Minor Domos), and seeing as the only red/orange Elites I've seen in Reach are Officers, I think it's safe to assume that the Officers are Majors. Also, I saw the Elite at 3:02 and his helmet looked like an Officers to me. This isn't even the first time Bungie has named a rank differently to fit the game. I mean, they called the Brute Captain Major a Brute Major (even though it was clearly a Captain Major due to the Captain's headdress and the gold coloring of the armor) due to the fact of their reduced role in Reach. They might've just renamed the Major as well for some unknown reason.--Lemurwolf132, 16:55, June 21, 2010 (UTC)
- Do you think this page should be integrated into the Major Domo page.-DA BEST 00:27, June 22, 2010 (UTC)
I think we should. Because the Ultra Elites look JUST like the Officers except they're silver!Thank you taking time to listen to my post! 19:12, June 22, 2010 (UTC)!
- I personally think we shouldn't. We should wait for more info from Bungie. Better to keep this page then to have to remake it if we're wrong. -- General5 7 talk contribs email 19:26, June 22, 2010 (UTC)
- Agreed. We should wait until Bungie releases more information.-DA BEST 03:57, June 23, 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, but I still think that it shouldn't be merged because (from what I've learned from reading up, seeing videos, etc.) Officers seem to be a higher rank than Majors. And besides, their armor is orange with red stripes, while Majors just have red. Spartan 2095 09:15, June 24, 2010 (UTC)
- I'm in favour of the merge, as the connection seems obvious. But if you guys do want to wait, the Halo: Reach game guide which is out on the 1st September should clear the debate up. -TheLostJedi 19:53, August 7, 2010 (UTC)
It's Practically Official[edit]
In the above vid, it shows all of the Elite Armor Perms minus the Officer (Which is a DLC).
As you can see, there is no Major in there, and in Firefight/Campaign vids, we see Officers in a Reddish Armor. Through the process of elimination, it would be logical to say that the Officers are the same thing as the Majors.
The Argument against having the Sangheili Officer Article Merged with the Sangheili Major Article has been nulled. As such, this article shall be merged with the Sangheili Major Article. Missing Mandible 03:25, July 23, 2010 (UTC)
I agree that the Officers and Majors are one and the same, being both red, seeming to fill the same position, no Majors have been seen, and that all the Elites in Reach have unique armours, so it'd be dumb for the Minors and Majors to have the same ones, BUT I vote against merging them until we know for sure, because from what I've heard it's a lot harder to unmerge them, just in case we need to. Let's just put that it is believed they are the same in the article and put up the reasons for now. Alex T Snow 08:06, August 5, 2010 (UTC)
I think they are replacement for brute captains, as they always lead lesser units to combat, and in one firefight vid there was a wave complemented only by officers with plasma launchers.
Halo 2[edit]
I once saw an orange Elite in Halo 2. It was in the level Gravemind. I saw him on the long bridge right before the Mausoleum. Probably just a mistake, but I thought I should mention it.
That would have been either an honour guard with the glowing orange armour, or a Zealot. The Zealots are gold but can look orange due to the graphics, but thanks for the pointer, sometimes stuff is missed :) Alex T Snow 10:44, August 4, 2010 (UTC)
- It wasn't an honor guard. Honor Guards have those plates, this guy didn't have those plates. Even without them, Honor Guards have red, not orange, armor. It was definately darker than a Zealot. When I said orange, I meant pure orange. Iceman117 01:40, August 8, 2010 (UTC)
Lets merge officer articale with the Major Domo, all the various enemies in Halo Reach seem to have unique armour and this appears to be the standard armour of new red Elites.
- Lets not. Not until we know for a fact that Officer=Major. And that discussion is under a different section. Iceman117 01:40, August 8, 2010 (UTC)
