Fanon Into Canon?[edit]
The description of this operation is actually very close to the content of a fan fiction on Halo.Bungie.Org, written by J.D. Ford. Like, eerily close. Is it possible that Bungie adopted aspects of it into canon? We've been dwelling on that for a while in the Fanfiction Forums.

If we could get Bungie to confirm, then it would make for some interesting trivia. And given that the fanfic was written in 2007 and the Encyclopedia didn't come out until 2009, it's doubtful the author riffed off Bungie's idea. --CaptainRaspberry 21:17, 15 February 2011 (EST)
