Talk:Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
John-117[edit]
John-117 is not a MCPon, as there is no references to this in the novels or the games. Secondly, MCPon is a paper pusher.Warhead xTEAMx 15:18, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
At the end of Halo 3, look at the rank taped to the memorial, its John's.
Just because the rank slide on the memorial is Johns doesn't mean that he's a MCPON.--L55 04:39, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
Did it have a star in the center? I don't have a 360 or a copy of Halo 3 to verify; I went off of a video on Youtube, as well as a little common sense, and made my conclusion. The person who holds the position of Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy is very visible to ALL sailors. They are the top SNCO in the entire Navy. They assist the top Admiral (whether they be four-star, or in times of war, Fleet Admirals) in leadership matters, and represent the entire enlisted structure.
Now, why would they send such an important person through all of these dangerous missions? More so to the point, why would they put John-117 (who is supposed to be a part of a secret project, anyway) in such a visible position? He's an E-9, but I seriously doubt that he is the MCPON. It wouldn't make logical sense to put him in that position. Smoke My pageMy talkMy Editcount 04:42, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
- I looked again. Despite all of that reasoning, I'm wrong. According to the final cutscene, he IS a MCPON. Smoke My pageMy talkMy Editcount 04:46, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
Seems like he was posthumously awarded the rank. -TheLostJedi 02:48, 04 July 2009 (GMT)
The Chief was a MCPO during his active duty time, and became MCPON after his assumed death. Also, he is rather conspicous because many UNSC soldiers look up to him cuz of what he's done for them. Not a lot of ppl wonder where he came from, and even less ask the question out loud. Arby116
He probably was promoted to MCPON on his supposed death. Up until then, he was just a normal MCPO, as far as I know.
Two?[edit]
I never get in this Navy Ranks... but, could it be more than one Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy at the same time? Flood12345
- Nope. CommanderTony
