SMG Replacement[edit]
In case it's something that should be added to the page, this seems to be the M7's replacement in the weapon sandbox, though obviously not a direct replacement in-universe. Alex T Snow 18:47, 25 August 2012 (EDT)
I agree, but we'll have to see how it handles in game when it comes out. To me, anyway, with a 72 round magazine, a similar rate of fire as the SMG, but the damage output of the Assault rifle from the first game, it looks like a beast of weapon.Siphon 117 09:56, 29 August 2012 (EDT)
Well, they said it was supposed to be usable against some vehicles, so I'd say it has decent power, high RoF and high recoil. They also said that the range was being tweaked, so I'm hoping for it to be medium range, but maybe have no aim-assist like the sniper rifle. I think it could be a power weapon however. --Delta1138 SnooPING AS usual I see 14:46, 28 September 2012 (EDT)
- An LMG would not be a suitable replacement for an SMG; the weapons fulfill two different roles. With that said, being an LMG, I'd expect it to have more effective range than an MA5 assault rifle, but less effective range on point (individual) targets than a BR55 (or any variant thereof). Real-World Weapon Inspiration?[edit]
Here's a question: what kind of real-world does this remind you of? Myself personally, it kind of reminds me a little bit of the RPD light machine gun used during the Vietnam War, and a little bit of M60 and the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon, as I've seen those fitted out with drum magazines on occasion. But as I'm merely speculating, I'm still wondering, what real-world weapon inspired the M739 LMG SAW? I have watched some of the Halo 4 development videos on Halo Waypoint, particularly the one where they were recording weapons sounds. But I never found out anything that might have inspired the design of the M739 LMG SAW. If someone could provide this information, it would be a very interesting little bit of trivia information to add to the article. --Xamikaze330 [Transmit|Files] 16:48, 14 June 2013 (EDT)Xamikaze330
