General vs Warrior[edit]
I'm getting the impression that the "warrior" rank isn't actually a rank, and that it's simply referring to Sangheili aristocracy as a caste where members can still have different ranks. Kitun is stated to be a general, and the Sangheili generals in Warzone also use the same armor. This is the same for the covert major, ultra, and ranger commander Warzone bosses. Thoughts? - DarkAuk (talk) 04:49, 17 November 2015 (EST)
- General could possibly be a sub-rank within Warrior, like the difference between Brigadier General, Lieutenant General, and Major General. But we don't have confirmation of such yet. Tuckerscreator(stalk) 17:28, 17 November 2015 (EST)
- Ahh this is what I was talking about. No source says he's a Warrior, bar the armour he wears. Which means its inaccurate to call him a Warrior given what we know about Parg Vol, where he is a Commander yet wears the Warrior-class harness.
- I say we get rid of saying he is a Warrior and call him a Sangheili General(I changed it originally to Commander originally but feel this is a better rank to use). I mean we have in the article that he wears the Warrior-class harness. So if we need to revert it later on, it will be really easy. - CIA391 (talk) 09:14, 15 March 2016 (GMT)
- I'm kind of skeptical, regarding whether Parg Vol was a Commander as in Commander. He was a very important leader/target within Jul's Covenant, which seems off for a simple Sangheili Commander. Pretty sure the Halo 4 Visual Guide used this title descriptively. For Kitun, "General" is capitalized in the achievement's description, but not in Grim's Canon Fodder mention, so "general" could also be a descriptor. Same thing for Gek 'Lhar, would a Sangheili Commander be Jul's main lieutenant? Or is it some kind of generic term to describe his role/position? Imrane-117 (talk) 07:03, 15 March 2016 (EDT)
- Honestly, since we don't have any other rank for him, we might as well refer to him as "General", but with a note that he dons Warrior armor. In general (heh), most ranks shouldn't be capitalized unless it is before the name ("Captain Keyes" vs. "a captain"). Halo doesn't usually capitalize Covenant ranks as such, with a few exceptions (Supreme Commander is always capitalized and Zealot usually is, for example). It's possible that general is a descriptor, but it is better to be safe. And I do think that Gek's and Parg's titles of "Commander" may be descriptors though, but then again it is better to be safe. I will note that Waypoint refers to Gek as a "Sangheili field commander". --NightHammer(talk)(contribs) 12:10, 15 March 2016 (EDT)
