Regarding Museum of Humanity

Should the locations which hosted the pieces used in the museum of humanity be added? There are quite a few Enlgish cities which hosted J. Courage's works, or do we not talk about Believe? :P

I'm not sure if they should be listed or not, especially when considering the dubious canonicity of Believe. If they are to be listed, link to Wikipedia as the cities aren't notable enough to warrant articles here.--Spartacus ^{Talk • Contribs} 16:45, 18 August 2015 (EDT)

I agree with Spartacus. I recall we decided that Believe was canon a couple months ago due to a Canon Fodder or something, though I'm not sure if we decided that all of it was or just certain parts. --NightHammer^{(talk)(contribs)} 17:01, 18 August 2015 (EDT)

Catalog apparently sent a private message to CIA391 confirming Believe as canon. Though I'd rather have a more authoritative source than a second-hand confirmation like this, given CIA's track record I doubt he's lying. Besides, we haven't had anything saying it's non-canon either, other than the events depicted not lining up with Halo 3; the Encyclopedia (which is admittedly dubious on many points) treats it as canon as well. I suppose the best way to look at it is as an in-universe propaganda piece; it's not like ONI's a stranger to twisting the facts.

As for the cities hosting Jake Courage's pieces, I believe they can be added to the page. Only as Wikipedia links, though, as they have too little relevant information to warrant their own pages. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 02:21, 21 August 2015 (EDT)

"UK under Russian control"?

I think we need to view Vaz's comments with a grain of salt, because to me they come off more as trash-talking than a genuine description of political status. Here's the entire exchange:

"I mean he [Jul 'Mdama] wouldn't hand out presents because they raise them in a communal kibbutz-type environment so that they start life on an equal social footing."

"Maybe Vaz can get somewhere with him, then. Discuss the glorious history of the soviets and beetroot-based economies."

Vaz didn't blink. The two marines tormented each other mercilessly, a sure sign of an old friendship. "Don't forget you lease your piddling little island from us. As a Russian taxpayer, I own you."

"Well, you got a bargain, then. Okay, now we've got this bugger, what are we going to get out of him?"

Apart from the context of the conversation, the residents of the UK leasing the British Isles from another country doesn't make any sense, particularly because they both fall under the umbrella of the UEG. Which is exactly why we're forced to assume the political situation has changed quite dramatically, based on his comments. Maybe we can ask Karen Travis what it means. Or someone can ask Grim on Twitter. He seems much more likely to reply to questions posed on there than in the Canon Fodder Q&A post on Waypoint. - Japeth555

Even if we assumed the British Isles are leased from Russia (which is pretty silly per the OP), we actually know at least Scotland is part of the EU, according to Michael Baird's (now apparently defunct) Waypoint article. Besides, if we accept that such a bizarre arrangement can exist, then I don't think it's impossible that the UK can be part of the EU even if they "lease" their territory from Russia (and who's to say Russia itself couldn't have become a member of the EU in the 26th century?). I'm also not sure if we should use the EU's present-day flag since flags may change over time, as seen with Australia. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 14:05, 1 April 2016 (EDT)

I emailed Karen Traviss about this, and to my great surprise, she actually responded not ten minutes later with this:

"Vaz was referring to the amount of Russian investment in the UK. Russians own a lot of property and businesses (including newspapers) over here. I'm not sure what the shape of the world will actually be like in a few hundred years, but in the Halo universe the world is still broadly divided along the lines of current geopolitical blocs. So it's just teasing about the general historic relationship between the two countries. "
