Talk:Colonial Militia

From Halopedia, the Halo wiki

Untitled[edit]

The Colonial Militia seems like its a group of cilvilans that are trained to fight or around 2552 the goverment is sort of like a paramilitary if your lost your colony you fight it seems like the best reason that you dont see a whole bunch of Refugee stations. also the Colonial Militia does not always seem to be trained people see the Halo graphic novel last novel the marine ask anyone who could walk follow you also see seens of cilvilians fighting the elites

  • Raises eyebrow* I barely understood what you said. But yeah, the Colonial Militia is comprised out of civilians willing to fight part-time, kinda' like the US National Guard. And the people fighting the Elites in the HGN aren't Colonial Militia, they're simply "Militia". --UNSC Trooper File:unsctrooper_small.jpg|14px]] TalkMy Work 17:25, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Army or Marines[edit]

Um... when in Contact Harvest did it say that the CM was part of the UNSC Army? I've read the whole book three times already, and I still haven't seen it. Can someone clarify, with a page number? -- -- The SargeMy Comm LineWhat I've done 15:55, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

it is nothing to do with the army. i have read the book aswell and it is just a group of civilans with guns themaskedidiot

I edited the infobox and put the Militia under the UNSC Marine Corps, since the article itself says they are trained and run by the marines.76.236.177.46 14:40, September 6, 2009 (UTC)

Just because they are trained and ran by the Corps...doesnt mean they are the Corps. It says several times in the book that it is a completely seperate deal. --User:JohnSpartan117 14:43, August 29, 2010 (UTC)

I think some are confusing what happened in Contact Harvest with what the CMA was really all about. The CMA was not part of the Army or Marines. Also, Johnson and Byrne were sent to train them covertly for operations against the insurrectionists. It is entirely possible that the USNC Army trained them as well, but that did not mean that those in the CMA were full fledged Army or Marines. They were their own organization that got used by the USNC for operations against the insurrection. Bugkill 19:08, September 18, 2010 (UTC)

Army[edit]

Reviving a long-dead discussion, do we have any proof for the article's claim that the Colonial Militia is organizationally part of the UNSC Army? From what we see it appears more like a separate UNSC-sanctioned paramilitary training program with no formal connection to any of the UNSC's military branches. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 00:55, 25 November 2014 (EST)

Well using my TARDIS I found that an anon added it along with the UNSC Marine Corps for some reason back in 2007. A little bit later Grizzlei removed the Marine Corps but not the Army.Sith-venator Wavingstrider Fett helmet.jpg (Commlink) 01:05, 25 November 2014 (EST)

Reach[edit]

I don't know if it's fair to assume that the Reach militia is part of the Colonial Militia. To me, it seems like a group of civilians serving in a self-regulated militia. I was always under the impression that the Colonial Militia was essentially a way for the UEG to have an organized martial presence under UEG control to protect colonies with little to none UNSC/CMA presence. Reach obviously doesn't have this problem. Given the equipment (or lack of) used by the militia, it doesn't appear they are even supplied by the UEG, like the Harvest Colonial Militia was. --NightHammer(talk)(contribs) 20:32, 2 March 2017 (EST)

Agreed. Same with the Venezian militia, Carrow's militia, and other paramilitary organizations in the colonies. Unless they're explicitly identified as part of the UNSC's Colonial Militia program (or generally UNSC-sponsored), I don't think we should assume a connection to the "official" Colonial Militia organization. --Jugus (talk) 08:35, 3 March 2017 (EST)
Yeah, Venezian Militia is for sure not part of the Colonial Militia, and the Sedran Colonial Guard appears to be the military branch of the Sedran government, like how Gao's militia is part of the Gao Ministry of War. The only worlds we know of with Colonial Militia would be Harvest and Sigma Octanus IV (unless Ground Command makes reference to other militias that I can't remember off the top of my head). --NightHammer(talk)(contribs) 09:41, 3 March 2017 (EST)
