Too Many Carriers?[edit]
how come there are so many carriers more of them than cruisers and smaller destroyers. Philyboy2010 23:29, February 10, 2010 (UTC)
- Because that's how many Nylund felt like writing in. -- Lord Hyren 14:45, February 22, 2010 (UTC)
It does seem a little odd tho, with that many carriers and they did'nt launch fighters, Covenant would have been swarmed if they did. They would'nt be able to do much damage but the always worked better as a distraction, take some of the incoming fire off the cap ships. DARKSTORM99 17:37, February 22, 2010 (UTC)
- If you want to look at it so as to explain it in universe one could speculate that the carriers did launch the fighters, but that Nylund didn't acknowledge that fact in his short story. Another angle would be that the carriers would be a juicy target to the Covenant and further enticing their fleet to attack Cole at Psi Serpentis as opposed to jumping to the next human colony. Taking what they perceived as a unique military opportunity. Yet another way of looking at it is that command didn't give Cole as many cruisers as he wanted and instead gave him carriers that might have carried almost as much firepower, but still slightly bulkier. Do any of those work? - Lord Hyren 14:55, March 3, 2010 (UTC)
S'pose another possibility would be that they had no fighters of at least not a lot. Also that Cole's strategy does not require the use of fighters as he sees it, he only needed a large group of heavy hitters to get the job done.
