Ussa 'Xellus, as portrayed in Canon Fodder: Legendary Endings

A kaidon and accomplished military commander, Ussa 'Xellus served during the War of Beginnings, a conflict between the Sangheili and San'Shyuum that lasted nearly one hundred years and ended in the formation of the Covenant. However, 'Xellus opposed the treaty that would unite his people with the San'Shyuum, seeing it as surrender. Under threat of assassination, he gathered his followers and fled to the Refuge, an uncharted Forerunner shield world. There, his descendants would live in hiding until their discovery following the Human-Covenant War.
