Michael Buck is allegedly a Private in the UNSC Unified Ground Command. According to the Banished's communications officer Glibnub—who operated the propaganda towers on Installation 07 during the battle for Zeta Halo—Michael Buck accidentally shot a squadmate in combat; Glibnub thanked Buck, calling the act of friendly fire to be Buck's contribution to the Banished war effort.[1]
